Conservation

The conservation of the environment is important and dependent on you and your choices. And, you have a huge opportunity to make a difference! Crabbers can take care of the environment by understanding the roles the animals and plants play in our ecosystem, sharing this information with others, and supporting the missions of organizations dedicated to educating your community on simple, easy practices.

There are many things we can do to protect our environment as crabbers. Monitoring crab pots is extremely beneficial due to the high levels of terrapin turtle deaths. Simple things like cleaning up our trash and crabbing lines can avoid introducing things into the environment harmful to animals. Most importantly, following the laws from Department of Natural Resources and other entities ensures we protect the blue crab populations. Most importantly, we have a sustainable crab population for years to come!!
